Thank you for considering the Two Oceans Aquarium to host your function.

Below please find information relating to all our venues available for hire for breakfast, dinner or cocktail style functions.

We recommend that you come in to view the venues and discuss the various options available. We are also able to advise regarding menu choice and agenda for your function. Please note that viewing of the venues is by appointment only.

I&J Predator Exhibit

Enchant your guests in the company of ragged-tooth sharks, graceful rays and shoals of predatory fish.

The I&J Predator Exhibit offers a breathtaking setting to make your function memorable – be it a birthday party, product launch or end of year bash.

Breakfast function

Cost: R3 100 excluding VAT

Capacity: 30 people (minimim) to 110 people (maximum)

Dinner function

Cost: R5 600 excluding VAT

Capacity: 30 people (minimum) to 11o people maximum (90 if dance floor is required)

Cocktail function

Cost: R5 600 excluding VAT

Capacity: 30 people (minimum) to 250 people (maximum)

Branding with a difference

Wow your guests with a banner inside the I&J Predator Exhibit. Our qualified divers will swim by with your banner before 9pm.

Banners are to be provided by the client. (Price available upon request).

The Atlantic Ocean Gallery

Come face to face with translucent, fragile jellies, alien-like giant spider crabs, and the master of camouflage the shy octopus in the Oceans of Contrast: Atlantic Ocean Gallery.

The myriad of exhibits offers a visual delight in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

Dinner function

Cost: R3 350 excluding VAT

Capacity: 30 people (minimum) to 50 people (maximum)

Cocktail function

Cost: R3 350 excluding VAT

Capacity: 30 people (minimum) to 100 people (maximum)

Tranquility

With a window that looks into the Kelp Forest Exhibit, it provides a truly magnificent backdrop against which to hold an intimate dinner or cocktail function. 

Dinner function

Cost: R2 800 excluding VAT

Capacity: 10 people (minimum) to 20 people (maximum)

Cocktail function

Cost: R2 800 excluding VAT

Capacity: 10 people (minimum) to 30 people (maximum)

The whole Two Oceans Aquarium

Enthrall your guests with the wonders of the underwater world.

The Aquarium is the ideal setting for large cocktail parties in that guests have the opportunity to wander around the various galleries while enjoying refreshments and being cared for by our attentive catering team.

Cocktail function

Cost: R54 per person excluding VAT. Minimum charge is for 200 people. 

Capacity: 200 people (minimum) to 500 people (maximum)

Included in venue cost

  • A functions co-ordinator to setup and oversee the function

  • Banqueting tables (round) and chairs

  • Standard cutlery, crockery and glassware

  • Standard white linen (table cloths and napkins)

  • Use of equipment: CD player, microphone, PA system (I&J Predator Exhibit only)

Times

Breakfast: 7am to 9am

Evening functions: 6pm to midnight

As our venues form part of the public Aquarium they are only available for set up at 6pm. This rule applies to all clients and their contractors and includes the delivery of items for the function ie furniture and décor. Guests may therefore only arrive from 7pm onwards.

An overtime fee of R2 000 excluding VAT applies after midnight (functions will only be permitted to continue until 2am).

Evening tours

Spoil your guests to a tour accompanied by our knowledgeable guides (price available upon request). 

Catering & beverages

Catering and beverages are at an additional fee.

We have a range of breakfast, canapé and dinner menu options available.

Halaal and Kosher guests can be catered for (additional surcharges apply).

Please note: no outside catering is permitted. Only beverages and wine supplied by the Two Ocean Aquarium may be consumed on the premises.

Wine and champagne may be brought in at a R60 per bottle corkage fee.

Staff

Staff are charged at an additional fee.

Waiters @ R30 per waiter per hour

Barmen @ R45 per barman per hour

Please note: The staff are required for the duration of your function as well as one hour before for setup and one hour after the function to break down.

To ensure that your function runs smoothly, we allocate a minimum of one waiter per table of 10 for dinner functions and one waiter for every 15 people for cocktail functions.

We allocate a minimum of one barman for every function (two for functions of 50 guests or more).

These fees exclude VAT.

Standard terms & conditions

When hiring any of our venues, the client undertakes to maintain the venue, (carpeting, acrylic viewing panels and audio-visual equipment provided) in good repair. On signature of this agreement you agree to maintain such interior and such audio-visual equipment in good condition.

In the event that any damage is caused to the venue, interior or the audio-visual equipment, the Two Oceans Aquarium will be entitled to give notice to the client requiring you to affect all necessary repairs or replacements. In the event that the client fails to affect such repairs or replacements within three (3) days of being notified, such repairs or replacements may be carried out by the Aquarium at the client’s expense. Should the audio-visual equipment be operated solely by an Aquarium staff member, the client will not be liable for any costs incurred through damages to such equipment.

Non-smoking

The Aquarium is a non-smoking venue.

Payment & cancellation policy

A 50% deposit based on catering charges for estimated guest numbers + venue hire is required to secure your booking. Booking confirmation is subject to above deposit payment. A function booking is not confirmed unless the deposit is received, together with our signed letter of confirmation.

The venue-hire deposit is non-refundable. 

Final numbers for your function are to be finalised, in writing, no later than two working days before the function. The balance of payment will be based on these final numbers.

The balance of payment is due strictly within seven days of the completion of the function/event.

Should the outstanding amount due be paid in full within 

seven days after the function, you will receive a 10% discount on all our direct charges (excludes catering & beverages). Failure to pay timeously and in terms of this agreement will result in 2% interest levied for the amount outstanding for every month until fully paid. Any legal costs incurred to recover the outstanding debt will be for your account.

Due to the demand for our function facility and the preparation required for the function/event, the venue-hire deposit is a non-refundable deposit. Should the confirmed function be cancelled within seven days of the event the client will be responsible for 25% of the balance of payment due. Should the function be cancelled within 48 hours of the event, the client will liable for 100% payment of the full cost of the function/event (including venue hire, hiring charges, catering and service charges).
